In the first half of the game, Manchester City dominated possession and created many chances but failed to convert them into goals. RB Leipzig struggled to create any meaningful chances throughout the game and were largely confined to long-range efforts. They also suffered a major blow when defender Tyler Adams had to be substituted with an injury in the first half. The loss of Adams seemed to destabilize the RB Leipzig defence, and Manchester City took advantage of the situation to score two of their goals.
